I went out to the lake to record some ducks. This day they weren’t squawking as much as I’d hoped, but the wind was calmer than it normally is, and the wind really is your biggest enemy when making outdoor recordings like these.

In reading about Zola Jesus most often I’ll come across comparisons to Björk or Siouxsie (and Kate Bush, and Elisabeth Fraser, and Tori Amos…). And I think those are appropriate because not only is Nika a remarkably gifted singer, but she also covers the bulk (or all?) of the songwriting and electronics programming (as does Björk, not sure about any others).
